My DVD drive is not recognised by burning software

Postby touson on Wed Aug 20, 2003 7:33 am

Hi,

I have recently bought a DVD/CD burner (_NEC DVD+RW ND-1000A) and have no problem burning DVD's with it. I have used DVD complete, Ulead DVD workshop and they both work fine. However my trouble begins when I try to burn normal CD's with the burner.

I have tried using Nero, Nero Express, EZ CD Creator, NTI 6, but none of these programs recognise the burner I have ? After reading up on various forums I am starting to understand about the necessity of the ASPI layer and the ATAPI layer and have found various sites I can download these drivers from. I installed the Adaptec ASPI 4.7 driver on my machine but, again, the burner was not recognised ? I have not had a chance to test different versions of the ASPI or ATAPI drivers yet, but I am guessing I will get the same result.

Does anyone else have the same burner and is experiencing the same problems ? Does anyone know what else I can try to get my DVD/CD burner to burn normal CD's ?

It's driving me crazy and any help anyone can give would be appreciated.

Thanks people.

Chris

Nero, Easy CD and NTI don't require an ASPI layer to be installed anymore.

Anyway, your drive is supported by Easy CD Creator. Make sure you have the right version:

It's also supported by NTI's software. Again, make sure you're using the latest version.

Download the latest trial version of Nero 6 and see if your drive is supported.
