FUJI 100Pk packaging, look like Imation style... still TY?

Just went to local BB and found some 100Pk FUJI (on sale this week for 9.99 after MIR). The 100PK (in 1 cake box) looks like the Imation style box (Sharp top etc). Anyone has bough some and can verify if they are TY?
I bought the regular TY cake box (2x50pk) just to be sure....

All Fuji spindles bought in the USA are TY.

That's a very dangerous generalization there rdgrimes.... even if that is true now (and it would be VERY hard to verify) how long do you *know* it will be true?

non TY fuji brand media are out there, and all it takes is one importer to find it. Not to mention it is every brands ability to switch manufacturers.

FWIW: Someone mentioned on another forum (Anandtech hot deals) that the new single 100 pack Fuji's where made in Taiwan. I picked up the a 100 pack at BB but it was the 2x50pack spindles made in Japan, so I can't actually say I saw this new 100 pack spindle. Is it possible that TY has a Taiwan factory now?

The DVD media spindles are made in Taiwan. But until you see one, don't bet that CDR's are.

I'm glad I found this topic. I was just going to ask about Fuji being possibly made in Taiwan, because the rumor on some forums have been people are seeing nothing but Taiwan discs. If this will be so, who else has TY discs?

I bought the Fuji 100-pack spindle at BB here in Atlanta yesterday, and it says "Made in Taiwan". I looked around the store to see if they still had any of the old 50+50 bundled 100-packs which are made in Japan, but they didn't.

Are there any spindles of Fuji 52X media? Apparently, Fuji 52X media exists, and it's manufactured by Fuji themselves, but they may only be available in single jewel cased packs. I'm not sure.

I've seen Maxell Pro media that was made in Taiwan and indeed still Taiyo Yuden. I didn't buy it, there was a package open so I peaked at the disc and the hub was frosted, which is a characteristic of T.Y. media only.

Okay, I went to BB, and the one they are selling is two 50pks together. They were made in Japan. I also checked some of the other 50pks and all I saw was Japan.

I just got back from my local Best Buy and noticed the same thing - Made in Taiwan Fuji cd-r media. I looked at one of the spindles and saw that the cd-r design was different and the top was more shiny, rather than frosted. I passed on these, but was hoping to find more information here. It looks like everyone is waiting for someone to post the ATIP info on these new cd-r's.

Its really terrible news if Fuji switched to another manufacturer. You could always count on them being on sale at Best Buy at least once a month.

I went to my local Best Buy to check as well. However, for the first time in a long, long time, they didn't have any Fuji's in stock so I couldn't check. However, I did save some poor soul from buying a box of Memorex CD-RWs.

He had an 80 GByte Western Digital hard drive for $90 in one hand and was reaching for a ten-pack of the Memorex CD-RWs with his other hand when I entered the aisle. I shouted "Stop! Back away from the Memorex, and no one gets hurt." Once the immediate danger had passed, I clued him in on the Staples deal for a Maxtor 160 GByte, 8MiByte cache drive for only $80.

Unfortunately, it was only after doing what I thought was my good deed for the day that I discovered he was a lawyer...

Just kidding, don't be offended all you lawyers out there.

Airtommy bought a pack, so if he would just pop one in his burner and run Disc Info in CD Speed or run Karr's Media Info Tool or any of the other tools that can report ATIP codes and manufacturer information, the mystery would be resolved. Come on, airtommy, cough up the goods! :wink:

I hope that you didn't give him any information that would enable to identify your name and address. If he is not satisfied with his purchase, you may be a defendant in a breach of promise lawsuit.
