DVD writers that do EFM correctly ...

Postby HobbyHorse on Mon Aug 11, 2003 10:17 pm

I haven't found a review of a DVD writer that states that it can do EFM correctly - anybody know of any I was wondering about the LiteOn LDW400D - ?

Thanks

LiteON LDW400D is an OEM version of Sony DRU-500A.

Sony DRU-500A does not support EFM correctly.

LG GCC-4040B is likely to have correct EFM just like previous LG dvd writers.

Halcyon

EDIT: model corrected to avoid further confusion

LG GCC-4480B does have correct EFM according to what I have read and can copy Securom 4.8 for instance. The problem is that it cannot read these copies itself. The copies do work well in other drives except the GCC-4480B. Wonderful, isn't it :)

Thank-you for your reply - I can now rule a line through LiteON LDW400D, however, as the GCC-4480B is only a cd writer I was not considering it. It appears then that there are no DVD+-RW that can do EFM correctly atm ...

Argh! My bad. I mean LG GSA-4040B DVD-/+R(W) / -RAM unit.

According to what I've read, it might just do correct EFM writing. I have not seen a confirmation yet though, so take this with a grain of salt.

Sorry for the confusion.

Halcyon
