XP Experts... what´s your opinion ???

Postby condecd1 on Wed Aug 06, 2003 10:55 pm

Hi, in the beginning, i post in dvd general forum. (I have a dvd liteon), but now, i realized that it´s an xp issue.
I will try to explain in few words: I have a colection of 350 mp3 cd´s, wich 90% were burn with same soft. With win98se, never had reading problems. Now, with xp pro (sp1), no. It won´t let me copy files to h.d., he just shows me all files perfectly but didnt let me play it or copy. Thats when i have the message "can´t copy files, the structure is broken".
Thats not true because, the same cd in win98se works just find.

If any expert now something about this, please help me.

Thanks :D
ps: I all ready try with different drives... just the same. My mp3 colection is no good por xp??

I don't know what the issue with XP is (I use Windows 2000), but if you are looking to recover the files, you might want to give Isobuster a try:

By the way, can you read other CDs with other data files (not .mp3 files) on them?

Yes, I can read other data files, copy them to h.d., everything works perfect, except for mp3 discs, running xp or 2000 server. Either my dvd lite-on or my cdrw creative works very fine with any cd.

thanks.

Again cigna, that a very nice picture, of what movie is it??

CignaXI - you have a lot of patience!

condecd1 - what software did you use to burn?

That could be the problem.

ECC 4.0 is ancient, and may have compatibility problems with XP.

I'd try ECC 6.0 or Nero 5.5.

Could it be that your mp3's are protected? Just like wma files can be?

XP is very particular with wma files that are protected. If you play a wma protected file on XP that was created on another computer (even another operating system on the SAME computer) it will not play.
