Fuji media (made by Taiyo Yuden) is one of the best. What media are you using?

I think Verbatim (Mitsubishi Chemicals) is the best. It all depends on what burner you are using. Fuji (TY) is very good with a lot of burners, and works the best in Lite-On burners.

The Fuji 48X (TY) is pathetic with my new Lite-On 52/32/52 drive. Sometimes it's 300,000 C1 errors and upwards of 1000 C2 errors unless I burn it at 40X. Then I get around 5000 C1 and no C2 errors. I'm starting to think I have a bad drive on my hands here. I'm getting these types of burns with the Fuji 48X (TY), Memorex 48X (CMC), and sometimes with the Maxell 48X (Ritek).

Or could it be the QS08 firmware? I never tested discs with the Q304 firmware that it came with.

Yup, you must have a bad drive. Those are worse than pathetic results. I'd return it to the store of purchase.

Im currently using Memorex with a Plextor 48x, burning at 16x because if I go hihger my burner becomes and industrial coaster machine

working on fixing that as well at this time, its an DMA problem

I also used to have an LG burner, same stuff, so it aint the burner

Im thinking about going with TDK media, what do you guys think of TDK ?

also you mentioned some type of errors, how can you check a cd for those types of errors ??

Nero's CD Speed ScanDisc will check discs for errors, and it works with all CD-RW drives that support error reading. Download it at http://www.cdspeed2000.com

TDK media is manufactured by Ritek, CMC, and TDK themselves.

The Ritek media is VERY good, the TDK media is supposed to be quite good as well, although I haven't tried it personally. The CMC media is not as good as the other two, although it is usually much better then the average CMC media.

No, I don't think RiTEK is Ricoh.

Ritek is *not* Ricoh, although a lot of Ricoh's CD-Rs and DVDs are now being made by Ritek, due to high demand. Actually, from what I've seen this is a good thing, because the quality of the Ritek made Ricoh CD-Rs is AWESOME!

Well, maybe not *quite* as awsome as I had suspected from my initial tests. Still good media, but burning at 40x could be better. Burning at 32x is quite good though.

I've discovered that there are more than one species of Ritek.
For Instance here in Israel i've witnessed the vanishing of SilverLine Media (Which is produced by Ritek) and the entrance of new media called CityDisc (Also fabricated by Ritek). I could see that the media was made exactly in the same factory or at least by same standards. Well, alsmost.

Well, the spindle smelled the same (and believe me, you can't go wrong there), it had the same packaging, discs color was the same and even the logo was sketched in a way which resembled SilverLine's logo.

The only thing the differed was the Quality and after seeking diligently i have found a serial number on the inner tube that wasn't found on the SilverLine media.

The numbers are imprinted onto the inner tube (transparent).

For instance: "800036*"

What you've seen is the left-overs..
With time, you won't see them on the shelves anymore..
As far as i know (and from what i've been told, though didn't take seriously at first) SilverLine are no longer imported.

Maybe the production line was cut off.. Who knows..

As i said though, almost identical Riteks are available (CityDisc).
