Lite-On 163d CD-R Double Diamond Digital Read problems

My Lite-On 163d with firmware ghr7 or ghr8 does not read CD-R's from Double Diamond Digital (700MB/80Min Multispead). I can burn and read the DDD CD-R's perfectly with my Nec 1300a. My Plextor PX-W4012A (fw 1.05) can read them and write the with some difficulty. Other CD Drives can read and write the DDD CD-R without any problems.

Does anybody have problems with the Lite-On 163d when reading DDD CD-R's? Is there a solution?

Definitely sounds like a media problem, especially if you are also having trouble using it with the Plextor.

Personally, I'd ditch that brand and find one that works well in ALL drives that are needed, not try to find fixes for specific drives...
