OptoRite DD0203 - finalizing problems?

Postby firehawk12 on Fri Aug 01, 2003 4:21 pm

I just burned my first DVD-R with the OptoRite DD0203 using Nero 5.5.10.35, and it seemed to burn successfully.

I just tried putting the disk into another computer, but it won't recognize it - the drive keeps spinning, thought the Disk works fine in the Optorite.

Is this an issue with my other drive or a problem with the media (Ritek) or a problem with Nero?

I've read that sometimes Nero won't finalize DVD-Rs?

Thanks.

Sometimes when you burn a multi-session DVD, those discs are harder to be recognized by other DVD readers or may not read them @ all.

For my 1st DVD disc, I also used Nero and burnt a multi-sessoion disc. I then popped the disc into my Liteon 166s to read, it took SO long to recog. the disc (spinned up and down for about 20 seconds).

I've left them in for a minute or more. :/

I chose "no multisession" when Nero asked...

The "That's DVD+R" that came with the drive works fine in my other DVD (Laptop) drive. Maybe it's only compatible with DVD+R. :(

Is there anyway to check if a disk is properly finalized?
And is there a way to finalize a disk in Nero?

Correct me if I am wrong: I think when you write a single session DVD or CD, Nero automatically finalizes/closes the session, thus, closing the whole disc so new data can't be written later.

That's what I thought as well...

The discs work fine in the Optorite, just no on my Laptop DVD drive (a GCC-4240N).

Most likely, your laptop DVD reader isn't too good @ reading DVD media.
