Mitsubishi announces DVD recorders at 16x during 2004.

Postby Noua on Tue Jun 24, 2003 12:52 pm

I’ve found an announcement by Mitsubishi that they’ll produce 16x DVD burners during 2004. This has to do with a new laser technology. According to them the burners will be able to record 176 megabits per second… That should give a 4.75 GB disc in about… 3 minutes… Well according to them they’ll release their first experimental drives by the end of the month. (Ian try to get one of those :D:D:D).
I haven’t been able to confirm the announcement but I found the news on a credible site here in Portugal so, let just at least give them the benefit of the doubt… I can post the link if you want but the news is in Portuguese and probably most of you won’t understan

Are you referring to their announcement from last December (found here and many other places), or do you have new, updated information?

and don't expect you can have something like this with your good old IDE connection.

Well, I thought I was giving good news to everyone... Guess I was out of date… Sorry for all of you, but I really didn’t knows this announcement was originally made in December. When I found it I was so excited that I immediately decided to post it.

Anyway, any news on this experimental drives? Most likely is that they haven’t distributed yet… Maybe by the end of the summer…

Ian,
maybe you could delete this thread since it's outdated...
