So the bottom line is that not a single +- drive supports Mt. Rainier, as far as I can tell. What I'd really like is a drive that handles +, -, RAM, and Mt. Rainier--for total future-proofing.[/quote]
I heard from LG and Samsung that they were late to add Mt. Rainier support because there was no Microsoft OS supporing Mt. Rainier natively.
Microsoft usually adds support for specific hardware devices
after being compelled to do so when everyone seems to demand it.
The same thing has happened with Serial ATA. The drive manufacturers have always said the motherboard chipset makers were not making chipsets for native Serial ATA support. The chipset and motherboard makers blame the drive makers for the lack of widespread use and high prices of Serial ATA HDD.
Tell LG that you seriously want Mt. Rainier DVD+RW support to the next model after GMA-4040B.
