TDK 440 Multi-format, Nero, DVD-R problems!

Postby kingthumper on Fri Jun 20, 2003 1:28 am

Just purchased at TDK 440 Dual Format burner from dell for a smoking price of 229.00 before tax. Have successfully burned DVD+R with several programs, but the only program to successfully burn DVD-R is recordNow. I've used Nero over the years almost exclusively, but when I try to burn a DVD-R in Nero, it errors and and says invalid command - aborting.

I have Nero 5.10.35 Enterprise Edition. Anyone had this problem with this drive? Ive also tried six types of media, with not luck.

Thanks.

Nero isn't the best when it comes to burning DVDs. Stick to RecordNow or NTI CD Maker Platinum.

I do hope they fix things in Nero 6.0 which will be out in about a month.

Yeah I here yah. Howefer, It is tuff trying out new software when your so acclimated to using another. RecordNow is pretty sweet. Real intuitive interface. Its weird that Nero didnt integrate the newer drives with there last release. Off the subject, I would reccomend the TDK multi format drive highly. I had the Sony, but had a few problems with the unit I got. The TDK drive is seriously cheaper, and a NEC rebadge at that. Its also the only Black bezel drive out offered as retail. For the price, you cant beat it.

Cheers.

What media do you recommend for the TDK 440N? Where to purchase?

Has the -R or +R had better compatilibilty with stand alone DVD players?

Thanks.

So far I have burned DVD-R's of Fugi, Memorex, Sony, TDK, Verbatim, and Philips. I've burned only DVD+R on TDK. This burner has burnt all media I have thrown at it, but it does have software compatibility issues, particularly with Nero. Hopefully, Nero will fix this in the upcoming version 6.0. Dont skimp with cheap media, wait for deals to come. I prefer TDK media above all others, but then tend to be a bit expensive.
