DVD Media Info

Postby Maurice442 on Tue Jun 17, 2003 12:13 am

Hello everybody, I just bought a Sony DR510U for my birthday (tomorrow) BUT my Sony dealer tells me I have to get separate DVD-R and DVD+R media to use those recording modes, and my usual salesman at a computer store tells me that it doesn`t matter because the software makes the +/- difference in writing the DVD.... Could somebody tell me more about this as I have NO experience with DVD recordings YET.... ( I was planning to use the latest Nero software that I already use on my Plextor drive) Thank you all for your replies. Maurice442

the 510 supports dvd +/- r/rw so you can buy any - or + and it'll work. that's all there is to it.

Your salesman is wrong! Buy whatever media is cheapest and most compatible with your DVD players. :D

wow, that guy is an idiot. And should not be selling anything. Buy any media you want. Very few programs ask you if you are using any media. I think I only saw it once where it asked if i was using +RW
