NEC 1100a vs 1300a

Postby gbass01 on Sat Jun 14, 2003 11:34 pm

Are there fundamental quality or performance differences between the 1100a (+only) and the 1300a (+/-) models? I don't think I'll ever need the (-) modes, so why pay for them unless the 1300a is better in some other ways.

Look at the specs, it should be self-explanatory.

Having a dual format burner is a nice thing. Run into compatibility issues with +R format, you can burn another disc in -R.

One thing that's different is that the ND-1100A (1.Ax firmware) burns DVD+R with DVD-ROM "book type" while the ND-1300A (1.05 firmware) burns DVD+R with DVD+R "book type" which give a slight worse compability.

I have a ND-1100a and i am delighted with it, i have only tried the discs in 6 or 7 different stand alones but they have worked every time. I didnt buy it because i am pro + i bought it because it was very cheap and as + seems to work in every situation i am liable to use it i am not bothered about the ability to burn - discs.
