i wonder if you guys work with CD writers...
currently i do, for backing up pictures and converting videos from VHS to VCDs...
just ordered a dvd writer (Sony DRU-500A), will be coming on Monday.

I have to use a burner at work occasionally. It's 8x. I thought that was slow, but 2x? Won't the person in charge spend the $50 to buy a fast new Lite-On?

He is in Great Britain so it would cost considerably more.

You're right, that is a little slow for 52x. You might be able to do 32x if you have a fairly recent HDD in there, but I'm not sure.
