a valid proof of purchase

i sending in my cendyne 48/16/48 lighting IV drive. but i need a valid proof of purchase, and i was wondering if anybody knows if that means i need to send in my reciept. i bought the drive 6 months ago, and i cant find it anywhere. i think i remember that the bottom of the box that the drive came with said proof-of-purchase, and it had the drives serial number, but i sent it in for a rebate offer. if anyone can help me with the stuation, i would greatly apreciant it.
also, i did email the guy, and i hope i get an ans. from him soon....

If your sending it in for service a copy of the reciept should do. Those rebate scams do that all the time. they want the ORIGINAL receipt then your screwed if you need to get the drive fixed under warranty. Some of them will except the rebate reciept many stores give you now a days. You probably should have made a copy or scanned it for the future. Many stores have records going back a ways and if you ask the manager nicely they can call up your reciept if you know where and close to when you got it.

Isn't the Proof of Purchase the bar code area on the box? Usually you have to cut this off and send it to them.

Yes, but rebates usually require the original UPC (bar) code, too.

Rebates generally required the UPC code (proof of purchase) and copy of receipt (copy of / original) depends on rebate terms.

When sending in for service, the proof of purchase is the receipt (usually a copy will suffice) to ensure it is under warranty.

As Dartman suggested, it is good to either keep a copy or scan ta copy of the receipt for record keeping.
