Tool for checking DVD+-/R(W) write quality, does it exist?

Postby Halc on Tue May 06, 2003 4:04 am

Now that we have CD Doctor, WSES and Kprobe for CD-R(W) discs, is there a similar for testing DVD+-R(W) disc write quality?

I'm in the process of buying a DVD writer and would like to test the options before I marry myself with a bad writer :)

regards,

KProbe tests DVD media as well as CD media:

Go to the "Tilt Analysis" tab.

You're welcome. Unfortunately I can't tell you exactly what all the DVD tests in KProbe mean, since I don't own a DVD writer and haven't explored this topic very much. In general the PI and PO seem to correspond in some rough sense to C1 and C2, but, as I said, don't take my word on this. Check the KProbe thread and ask any questions you have there. Someone may be able to answer, including Karr himself.

I appreciate the kind words, all, but the reality is that I am but one of many contributors to this forum, and certainly not the most knowledgeable at that. I can easily think of 20 particularly helpful and prolific posters right off the top of my head, any one of whom knows more than I do about all manner of subjects (but I won't list them for fear of leaving someone off and inadvertently causing offence). And everyone who has ever answered even one question deserves a nod as well.
