Hahahaha! Cayenne dye! Is that like Cayenne Pepper?
No I ment Cyanine Dye Google screwed me, I didnt know the correct spelling so I used it and it picked the wrong dye.
Cayenne Dye CD-R's would make a good copy protection scheme. Try to copy one of these CD-R's and pepper spray that is secretly embedded in the CD-R shoots out of the drive all over your room! Hope the RIAA doesnt find out about this...
Seriously CMC used Cyanine around 97-99 for companies like Imation, Samsung, Hotan, Hi-Val, and Khypermedia. I think the speeds went from 4X to 12X. Never seen any 16x or above CMC disks with this dye. I bought a 10 pack of 12X imations and only 4 of them burned. Never bought them again.
The first time I saw CMC's Phthalocyanine (yellow/gold dye) discs was when I bought a 50 pack of 16X 74 minute Memorex CD-Rs. I only had a Sony 12X burner then but they seemed to work fine for low speed burning. I used a bunch of them mostly for copying CD-Rs for the car back then before I found out the "truth" about CD-R quality.
