Sony Announces Two New Dual RW Drives - 4x DVD+RW Support!

DVD-R/W, DVD+R/RW, DVD-RAM

Taiyo Yuden DVD+R

Postby NeilPeart on Mon Apr 21, 2003 7:23 am

This is a tad off-topic, but I found a whole shelf of Taiyo Yuden DVD+Rs at Fry's the other day (cannot recall whether they were 2x or 4X). Do TY DVD+Rs maintain the quality of their CD-R counterparts? Anyways, I'm still waiting for faster speeds and cheaper prices before I hop onto the DVD writing bandwagon, though I am getting a bit jealous of you guys... :)

SONY....

I read that everybody talks about the 500A with BLACK colored ink on the tray, but it's the light who does the viewing job........at my 500A the paint color is really W H I T E !
But it depends on the viewside at the tray, the shadow makes it look like BLACK (and maybe the glitter of the aluminium

I don't remember exactly, but I think it was 20 or 30 discs for $40 or something like that. I have to buy some other stuff there today, so I'll write down the details and post 'em.

Maybe $2 per disk for 2.4x DVD+R. Cheap anyway.

Yep. It's mass and when LG says mass, it usually means millions.

Check the model. That's the DRU-500AX, not the DRU-510A.

FYI price now at $313 and their feedback and score on resellerratings is pretty crappy.

Well, for those who can't wait, and have some bucks (not me, for sure):

From PriceWatch today
-- IN STOCK -- Sony DW-U10A (DRU-510A OEM) starting price is $315.00

But this is the OEM version - if like the 500A it won't have software and warantee.

Still if you want to be first

The DW-U10A is the OEM version of the DRU-500A, not the DRU-510A.
