PLEXTOR 504A and NEC ND-1100A Bit Setting?

Postby jnesbitt on Wed Apr 16, 2003 10:48 pm

I have a NEC ND-1100A and the DVD+RW’s I burn will not play on my older home player. I have researched this and many people with my exact home DVD player solved their problem by changing the bit setting or mode of the disk. Specifically, they used a peice of software call DVDBitsetter.

However, the software told me that it works with all burners EXCEPT NEC and Sony.

Here is my question; do you think it will work with the PLEXTOR? As mentioned in Ian's article this drive is based on the NEC.

I have contacted NEC, Plextor, Nero, Roxio and DELL and nobody has ever heard of the “bit setting”. Even though it is a new option in the Nero software the tech guy didn’t know what it did.

Thank you for any help, I am desperate. I only have a few days left to return the NEC and get the Plextor.

If you can't find the answer soon, I'd strongly suggest returning the NEC, getting the Plextor (assuming it has a return policy as well) and try that. If they both fail... home DVD Players aren't too expensive anymore.
