Anyone have a Samsung drive? Need some help.

Postby Xator on Mon Apr 14, 2003 6:29 am

I recently purchased a Samsung 52/24/52 (SW-252B) drive. This drive comes with a Optimal choice for recording speed in EZCD6. If I select this option I'm able to write some files to a disc the first time without any problems. If I try to add any additional files to the disc I receive this...

Errors were detected during the recording or on your new disc.

E80041898: Write Error - [03/0C/00]

Write error

Problem:
The recorder was not able to write to the disc, because a previous write operation was not completed. The disc may also be defective.

Solution:
Restart the software.
Try another blank disc.
Try another brand of disc media.
Restart the computer.

The drive will just set there for several minutes trying to burn the disc and wont let me eject.

The solutions don't get me anywhere and the discs aren't defective. This drive is also on the supported list and I've already downloaded the latest patches. I'm using Memorex 48X discs in case your wondering. I can just set it to 48X recording speed and it works fine. This is just a minor annoyance that is bugging me. Don't have any problems with Nero.

Welcome to CDRLabs, Xator!

Could you try different media? It might help, although I am not sure what the problem is. You could also try updating your firmware if you don't already have the latest version. Samsung's support site has a firmware which I believe is for your drive. Make sure that it is really for your drive before flashing.

Actually, the firmware update is more likely to fix your problem then the new discs are.

The latest firmware version gives me the same problem. I'll probably try some new discs and see what happens.

Xator, are you sure you have multi-session burning set up properly with EasyCD?

What version of EasyCD 6 do you have? Roxio's support page states that support for the SW-252B requires 6.0.0.171, so make sure your Easy CD is up to date:

http://rpp.roxio.com/drives/?page=suppo ... ives&ltr=S

I think 6.0.0.171 may be the only version of 6 that has been released, so you probably have the most up-to-date version with support for your drive, but it doesn't hurt to verify.

The newer R702 firmware solved the problem. I was using the R701 version that was mentioned at...

http://www.cdrlabs.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=10482

The Samsung English webpage only shows the R701 version listed. As far as EZCD6 goes, I'm using the latest version and everything is configured correctly.

Thanx to those who replied for helping me out.
