Help - best DVD+R and DVD+RW media 4 Sony 500 AX?

Postby seanmcgpa on Thu Apr 10, 2003 2:14 am

Just got the 500AX and LOVE it. I need some media suggestions though ... what + media works well, and where can I buy it online in bulk?

I am interested in DVD+R and DVD+RW, although if you guys feel the DVD-R media works well too I'd give it a shot. I have a few stand alone DVD players that have read DVD+ without fail but have occasionally given me headaches with DVD-.

Does anyone else find this to be true?

Thanks

Sean

Sean, recently purchased Sony's DRX500ULX. Love it too! Read about Meritline's 4X DVD-R in one of the forums on line at CDRLabs.com. Bought them and using DVDXCopy copied a DVD movie "perfectly". Meritline can be reached on line at http://meritline.com/ . Also purchased Verbatim's DVDRW+ and used that media for making a backup as I just recently upgraded all my hard drives and made backups of each partition separately. Again perfect results. Also purchased ink-jet printable Verbatim DVD-R at this website http://www.provantage.com/ (first time at this vendor) because it had the product I wanted for use with an Epson PhotoStylus960 that prints on DVD/CD ink-jet printable media. The movie I copied on Meritline 4X played on Pioneer Elite's DVL 91 DVD/LD player without any problems in DTS, menus etc. That was good enough for me. Good luck. Hope this was useful. Enjoy your equipment. :D
PS
Check out this review on Plextor's new DVDRW referred to on CDLab's homepage: http://www.monkeyreview.com/reviews/review.php?num=244
The review has interesting information re: media etc...

I have a DRU-500A and have had good luck with Ritek and Verbatim media. All I use is -R because of compatibility issues with my DVD players and in the end that's what matters the most.
