Nero multi-drive capability...

Postby F1Pilot on Sun Apr 06, 2003 7:05 am

Hi all...

Does anyone know offhand if Nero does multi-drive burning? I thought I read somewhere about it being able to control up to 7 drives simultaneously...can do more drives if you did some kind of software upgrade. Also, has anyone tried this?

Image Thanks for the input!

The full retail version can burn to two drives at once.

For an extra $249 you can buy support for up to 7 simultaneous burners.

For an extra $499 you can buy support for unlimited simultaneous burners (Ahead has reportedly tested with 24)

Thanks for the info, cfitz! Is that a seperate download, or is it via a patch or something?

The full retail version is just a serial number upgrade. You don't even have to download a new version:

Support for 7 and 32 (no longer marketed as "unlimited") simultaneous drives is by plugin:

Actually, RecordNow Max supports up to 64 drives, as per RecordNow MAX 4.5 Feature Details.

This is the same basic engine that was used in the former Prassi Primo CD Pro64, which if memory serves used to sell for close to a thousand dollars.

Now for the bad news. Ever since Veritas purchased Prassi, their support for the PX Engine Updates has gradually faded. The updates have recently disappeared altogether from the Veritas site. The last update was released about Oct. 2002 and does not cover some of the latest burners.

Veritas seems to have a knack for neglecting formerly very good products, and in effect, dooming them. It seems that they are now treating the former Prassi line (RecordNow Max, et al) as no longer supported legacy products. :(
