Formatting DVD +RW

I just bought the Sony DRU500AX. How do I format the DVD +RW disc before I can use it. Very poor software documentation provided by Sony. Thanks

I think this should be moved to the DVD Forum instead?

I'm not too sure how many of the FAQ writers actually own a DVD rewritable drive.
