Postby lost-in-space on Tue Mar 25, 2003 11:03 pm

Bought a Pacific Digital 16X DVD drive
Unable to RIP movies to hard drive, getting
"Logical Unit region not been set" error

Getting drive region status "Lock detected"
Are all the new 16X drives going to set this error
My old 6X Toshiba read the DVD's fine

Unable to tell who made it, Has bios 2.40

It's probably an Artec/Ultima DHM-G48, detected as "IDE DVD-ROM 16X"

I have only been able to rip as fast as about 4-5x with this drive. Sometimes it stays down at around .5x, but I think that's the fault of the Disk. Try playing a little bit of the movie, before ripping.

Plays movie fine, problem is it when I try to RIP the movie ro the hard drive. Do the new drives had something that will disable you from copying the movie?

Some do. Not all though. You can give some different firmwares a try, find them here: http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=781

Please report back if you find out anything useful. I am using 2.60 right now.

I just read your post here and replied.
