Gonna Buy A DVD burner, A little assistance please?

Postby Tenznet on Sun Mar 09, 2003 4:19 pm

I've finally decided to purchase a DVD burner. I am thinking of sticking with my current CD-R manufacturer of choice, TDK. My TDK Velo CD burner has been top notch since I've had it. Ive done easy 250+ burns in the short period of time I've had it, and not a glitch has risen. So now I'm looking at the TDK IndiDVD 420N. Anyone know a good site that does proffesional reviews and not just customer reviews? BTW anyone hear anything good about this burner?

I'm not saying BluRay isn't something to look forward to, but to me it sounds like Tenznet has a little shorter timeframe in mind. It will be quite some time before BluRay units reach the current price and penetration of DVD burners. And if Tenznet is looking to burn discs he can put in his home theater DVD player, BluRay doesn't offer him anything. Maybe when we all have HDTV and media to match, but that is still some ways off...

Bubba, most folks aren't going to bother buying one until they come down significantly in price... which means it'll be about 9 months before it becomes "affordable" for most enthusiasts and 18 months for the higher end of the mainstream.
