Difference between DVD-RW and DVD+RW?

Postby F1Pilot on Mon Mar 17, 2003 8:53 pm

I just read the tread about Pioneer going into the +RW field. Out of curiousity, does anyone out there know if there's a "mechanical" difference between -RW and +RW. For instance, with the A05...could Pioneer come out with a firmware that would "transform" the A05 into a +RW drive, hence more cabatible media to work with? Just curious.

I just wish Pioneer would cut the B.S. about the 1x/2x deal.

DVDFORUM backs -R and DVD ALLIANCE backs +R,that being said your Pioneer can't become dual-format by a firmware update(HP got in alot of trouble saying it could). Here's an explanation:http://www.dvdrhelp.com/dvd
