Recording LP records to CD ? Nero ?

I have Nero 5.5.10.7

As far as I can tell, Nero's documentation does not help much with this topic. I have figured out how to use Nero's Wave Editor to record a track from an LP record. it is a *.aif file. and there are other options for file types. I can burn the digital file to a CD, but my audio CD player doesn't recognize the track.

So, I took a look at the files on a CD music album and they are .cda files. Wave Editor does not give me the option of saving a track as a *.cda file. So, how do I record the tracks from an LP and save them as a .cda file, or is there some way to convert them?

also, how do I go about recording the whole LP and end up with individual tracks without recording one track at a time?

any help would be appreciated.

Here's a guide for WinOnCD, but I'm sure you'll figure it out how to do this in Nero or some other burning program.

You can still use Nero's Wave Editor to record the entire LP as a single .wav file and then split them up.

I would suggest that it's safer to record each track individually b/c for me, it's a buggy program prone to crashes which corrupts the .wav files.

Then you can use Nero to convert those .wav's directly onto a music CD.

Maybe the question I should be asking is "What's the best software to use for transferring LP music to CDs, with the least amount of hassle?"

Nero, WinOnCD and probably most all burning software will insert two-second pauses between tracks by default. Your question is something of a rarity here, because most people want to know how to remove the pauses.

So just record your songs, one per .wav file, start up Nero, create a new audio compilation, drag the .wav files into the audio compilation window in the order you want them to appear on the finished CD, then burn. The pauses will be there, with no effort on your part.

If you want to transfer LP's to CD's without too much complications try PolterbitS Recorder & Editor. Evaluation copy can be found at this site:

Also if you want to clean up some of the scratches and pops on the LP tracks, try DePopper at following site.

I have used both programs and they do a remarkable job converting LP tracks to WAV files and cleaning up the tracks for transfer to CD's and both are easy to use. You would still need a program like Nero or other type program to actually burn the WAV files to the CD's but that should be no problem.

I use CDex to record one long track in mp3 then I use MP3Split to make single tracks and finally MP3Gain to adjust volume(much better than normalize).I prefer NTI CD Maker to burn audio over Nero.All(except NTI) are freeware and can be found here:http://www.webattack.com/freeware/freeware.html
