500AX Gurus, Question Re: Copy Abilties

Postby tazdevl on Mon Mar 10, 2003 1:33 am

First off, have to exucse me, wayyy too much sake @ dinner. Hence the desire to spend money. :P

How does this drive do on copy protections? Reason I'm asking is that I am thinking about replacing my F1 with a 500AX. I don't mind the added burn time for CDR/RWs time if I have more flexibilty with the same capabilities.

I haven't tried mine for that stuff, I kept the LieOn for that work. I don't think it supports overburning from what I could tell when I tested my a model.
There are quite a few reviews around, probably one here too. Try http://www.dvdrhelp.com/forum/ and see if it's mentioned there if here or other places don't cover it.
I'd keep the f-1 and use both if it was mine unless you just don't have the room.
I have 2 cdrw's, a dvd drive, and the 500 and it all works well together.

Wow! Then for sure you have an extra IDE controller card. Or it is built-in on the motherboard?

I have a nice MSI KT3 ulta ARU which means it has 2 normal IDE 133 ports and 2 133 raid ports plus 4 USB 2.0 ports, 2 regular USB ports.
Also it supports most of the new athlom CPU's and is rock stable if everything is setup properly. It also has 6 channel sound with digital in and out.
it's pretty cool. Anyways I can have 8 IDE devices hooked up, 4 HD and 4 other, and I do :o
