Windows ME + WMP9 with DVD Playback

Postby alexandermross on Sat Mar 08, 2003 12:51 pm

I use Windows ME with Windows Media Player 9 Series. I also have PowerDVD XP all of which work perfectly. The problem I have is I can't get WMP9 to play DVDs. It says there's no disc in the drive. I heard about codecs anfd that for it but they cost £15+, only work on WinXP on what I've seen, and I already have PowerDVD XP. Can anyone tell me where to get free codecs for it that work on WMP9 and Win ME so I can unistall PDVD XP.

It requires a registry hack.Use M$ DVD Player in WinME"dvdplay.exe", but it requires MPEG-2 codecs to work.

DVD Playing

Another thing I need to note is that DVDPlayer that you said would be fine if it let me use my Microsoft Multimedia Keyboard shortcuts with it. I know WM9 supports this. And it's meant to support DVD playing but there's no tabs. Also what is the registry hack you were talking about. I know the dangers but this means everything to me. WM9 rocks and PowerDVd is ugly.

Come On! Someone must know how. I've seen the payable stuff for Win XP but I have Win Me and already own Cyberlinks PowerDVD software. What's the reg hack you're talking about.
