InCD and win2k

Postby mlcampbe on Fri Mar 07, 2003 2:44 pm

Ok, I have a new Usblink cd-rw drive and it came with Nero 5.5. I have installed the software and can get it to partially work but not on a consistent basis.

I put in a new cdrw disk and formatted it and it seems to work fine. However, I have another disk that I formatted and cannot use it. When I put this disk in the cdrw drive it tries to read it and hangs up the system. I have to reboot to even eject the disk. However, if I put that same disk in the cdr drive it can read it just fine as I had previously written some data to it.

Under win2k sp3 it seems that my InCD is not behaviing very well at all.
Would it help to upgrade to the latest burning rom and incd files from Nero?

Please help

Yes... but if you still have the same issues after you try the Nero and InCD updates, please let us know.

Might also want to check the manufacturers site and see if there are any firmware updates for your drive.

As tazdevl suggested, it won't hurt to upgrade to the latest versions of Nero and InCD from Ahead's site.

Could you tell us the brand and model of your burner?

Your problems with the "another" disc might be due to poor media, or rather to a mismatch between your media and burner, since you can read the disc in a CD-ROM drive. BTW, have you installed EasyWriteReader for reading InCD discs on your CD-ROM drive?

Perhaps your problems will disappear once you switch to better media. Otherwise, we will need more information about your system, as explained in the guide

Don't let it scare you away; just follow the pertinent steps and come back with more information. :D

Thanks for the link about the troubleshooting. The first thing that jumps out at me is I have memorex cd-rw media. Probably not the best choice.

The game plan is:
1 - upgrade to the latest Nero software
2 - fully read the troubleshooting guide
3 - get some different cd-rw media

Thanks!

Sounds like an excellent plan. KCK is very helpful, isn't he?
