too bad Craig Campbell has'nt helped out
it's also a pity that you didn't bother to answer the questions i asked you.
you just dumped the huge InfoTool output.
it would have been much more courteous of you to answer the questions. your'e asking other people to help you out, at least you can answer simple questions like i asked instead of dumping this huge text and expect us to dig into it and sift through to find the relevant info.
not very friendly
...
i'm not an expert on Sony/Lite-On drives, so i don't know if the 5YS2 firmware you have is the latest for your drive. maybe someone else will comment on that.
it appears that you have Adaptec ASPI 4.71. this is know to cause trouble with WinXP. there have been many such reports. it is recommended that you remove it and install ASPI 4.60.
here's a couple of links:
http://www.afterdawn.com/software/cdr_s ... rcaspi.cfm
http://www.cyrus.troy.btinternet.co.uk/downloads.htm
from which you can get ForceASPI, which can remove the current ASPI and install 4.60.
you also have Roxio's UDF Reader installed. you don't really need this to read packet-written discs by DirectCD, since you already have DirectCD installed. it is strongly recommended you uninstall it.
EDIT: not really sure about this one...so maybe you should
not uninstall the UDF Reader, unless you don't actually use DirectCD (read below) in which case remove both of them.
also, if you don't use DirectCD, you might consider uninstalling that too.
after that you should clean your system of all the remaining drivers it might have left behind, i suggest you read KCK's "InCD troubleshooting guide" in the FAQ forum. although you're not interested in InCD, still that guide has info on how to spot drivers from DirectCD/UDF Reader that interfere with InCD and theoretically could cause trouble for you.
since this is rather tricky (you
don't want to remove something the Easy CD Creator needs) and also involves cleaning the registry, i recomment you try my other recommendations first.
