Pioneer A05 4x writing problems

Postby OperatorS on Tue Mar 04, 2003 3:49 pm

Well, I just got a Pioneer A05 and im having a few issues with the speed.

Firstly, whenever burning it will pause for long periods of time , sometimes for a few minutes, every 300mb or so. Burn is fine, but whats going on? Buffer underrun? Thats pretty terrible.

Second of all I figured out how to enable DMA Mode 2 doing the remove-refresh trick, but its still doing this, except now it does it at 4x instead of 1x. Im using an 80wire cable now as well.

Any help? Thanks

If you are using an OS that has a Task manager that you can select check your cpu utilization. Is it flying all over the map? I had my Sony on the wrong IDE channel and it was as you described but it would not burn 4X eiither. But check and see which IDE channel it is connected to. I never realized how important that was until I installed the Sony. (and it didn't work.) I fought that problem for weeks. It would burn everything at about 2X maximum and the CPU utilization was all over the map, it looked like an oscillation from 100% to 0%.

Good luck with it............
Have fun.........Bob
