ALTERNATIVe to liteon dvd

hi everyone

i cant find liteon dvd where i live (unfortunately)

please tell me the second best dvd drive considered

i also cant find any toshiba drive.

is it ASUS e 616 or pioneer or LG.

I don't own one, but a number of regulars here are quite happy with their Pioneer slot-loading drives (105s or 106s).

ASUS E616 is very good at protection copying but noisy .

You should tell us your needs because few drives perform well in all areas .

The new Toshiba 1712 gets my vote. Silent operation, reads copy protected audio CDs...what more oculd you want? Oh yeh...Region Free too!
