Except that it has Plextor brand name, Plextor support, etc., it seems the same hardware that I already own: NEC ND-1100A. Why pay more for something less original?

It is the NEC ND-1100A 4x DVD+R writer as far as I know.

IO DATA also sells NEC ND-1100A for about US$180. The price for the Plextor-branded NEC ND-1100A is a little over US$200.
