DVD-R: Fuji/Maxell/Verbatim vs. Princo and Ritek Longevity?

Postby VEFF on Sat Feb 22, 2003 1:18 pm

I am thinking of buying Maxell or Fuji DVD-Rs for only $2 a piece inc. tax after instant coupons, versus paying only about $1 a piece for Princo 2X (or $1.70 for 4X Ritek).

The reason being that I am starting to worry about the longevity of some of the lesser name brands.
I don't want my collection to become useless in a couple of years.
DVD-R media is still relatively new...

Does anyone know of a good site regarding DVD-R longevity/reliability?

Are my concerns (totally) unfounded?

Also, which is better in terms of quality: Maxell DVD-R or Fuji DVD-R media?

Thanks!

I'm guessing that when they are available the TDK Armor Plated discs will be the best for durablitity/longivity...
