I really like the Nismo Skyline GT-R Z-tune. The body kit is nice and clean, not too "out there" as some body kits tend to be. The vents on the hood do look nice, but takes some time to get used to. Would you happen to have any specs regarding this Z-Tuned Skyline?

How about a wagon?

Postby Robotnik on Mon Feb 10, 2003 6:02 am

Ever hear of the Nissan Stagea - a wagon with the same twin turbo 2.6L engine and 4x4 driveline as the GT-R?

The one pictured is the tuner special Stagea Autech 260RS:

Never heard of it. But personally it looks just okay. Not into station wagons at all.

Only two things I know about Z-tune GT-R are these two

1) follow this link http://tucars24.valuehost.ru/2001_nismo_bnr34_z.htm

2) it costs about 20-25k to have a GT-R be Z-tuned.

As for the Stagea, yeah I know about it. Quite a cool station wagon, even though I really don't like them. Word is that Nissan Japan has been using them as disguise to test the R35 GT-R.

I think this is the finished Abflug 350Z bodykit. The pic was taken during the Tokyo Auto Salon.

Here's a side pic of the Nismo VQ38. Really Impressive. :D

Here's more rumors about future Toyota sports cars.

Toyota Supra
Rumors are now begining to swirl madly about a 2004 (actual late-2003 release) model year Supra. Preliminary specs include either a 3.5L V-6 with 325HP in the high trim, and a 2.5 L V-6 in the lower trim. News of a 2004MY Supra release also "suspiciously" appeared in both "Automobile" magazine and "Road and Track" July/August '02 issues. Other sources have the 2004 Supra coming with a 4.5L V-8 in the upper trim and the 3.5L V-6 in the base trim. Expect the Supra to arrive as a direct competitor to the 350Z. Pricing and power should be very similar so it should hopefully be a little more affordable than the past Supra.

Toyota 5000GT
This car has been rumored to appear for the last few years. Originally leaked to magazines, perhaps to gauge interest in a Toyota supercar, the purple concept was release (by Toyota?) and was presented as a super car somewhere around the US$100,000 price range. Judged as too retro the later drawings (orange/white) represent a more modern looking super car. Please note that the latter drawings are just Japanese car magazines speculation on the design, and may be completely out of the blue. The name suggest heritage along the lines of the 1967 2000GT a car who's design was well before its time. Hopefully this suggest that the car will have technology well ahead of the curve.
Earlier rumors had the GT car having well over 400 HP from a V12 engine. This would blow away any current designs from Japanese automakers allowing Toyota to enter the supercar/exotic market. More current rumors suggest that rather than using a V12 Toyota is developing a V10 engine based on their F1 racecar. Power is expected to be around 450ps (~433HP). Whether or not this car will actually be built remains to be seen...as Toyota is notoriously tight-lipped about future models.

I think the styling bto was talking about is probably that of the Toyota FSX below. It looks very similar to the old 2000GT.

Toyota FSX
Debut was at the 2001 Tokyo Motor show the Toyota FSX is rumored to possibly fill the gap that will be left by the Supra. With the Lexus SC430 filling the luxury sports car and the possible upcoming 4500GT/5000GT in the super car category Toyota may use this car as a more "affordable" sports car along Supra lines to compete with the upcoming 350Z and RX-8. The concept car has the 4.3L DOHC 32 valve V8 from the Soarer/LS430 under the hood mounted in a position to provide a 50:50 weight balance. The V8 is mated a 6-speed sequential manual transmission.
Toyota has suggested that this concept is simply "experiment in styling" at this point; however if it is produced (as many sources are suggesting), expect to see it as soon as 2-3 years from now. Expect much more conservative styling, as Toyota concepts can be quite changed from the production product (XYR Concept excluded).
It is doubtful that this car would appear at least in the US. This car is likely to be priced well above most cars in the Toyota lineup suggesting that it would be likely be placed under the Lexus nameplate. Lexus however already has a convertible "sports car" for sale in the SC430. A convertible that priced to compete with the forthcoming 350Z and RX-8, and with more power than the SC430 would hurt already slow SC430 sales.

I had alredy discussed that possibility witha friend that works in Japan (for a magazine), of the next supra being based on the FSX, and he said it will not be, at all.

FSX, was just a showcase of technology and/or design, as was the Honda Dualnote. Whatever each Magazine assumes a feeds their readers is beyond..... :(

Other people my friend knows have heard and keep hearing that Toyota will base their design on the 2000GT; after all look where the 350Z got its styling, the very first 240Z. And remember, 2000gt could have been a Nissan.

Another thing, I was going to post those pictures, but decided against it, as most of them are photoshops of something: white ones being NSXs, yellow one being a 350Z and the purple having an unkown source.

Also, If have not heard yet, Toyota has this "thing" for trying to go up against all the big Super Exotics (think Ferrari F50, Enzo, Zonda, etc).... :-? with another car, separate from the Supra.....in my opinion, they are getting ahead of themselves. First they should finish the Supra and then start thinking of what to do next.

I agree. Toyota needs to get a finished Supra to go against the 350Z, before they start working on other projects.

As for the pics, I'm going to take a few down within the next few days to cut down on the bandwidth.

Nice info guys! I don't know if you get this British magazine called CAR in the US? In the Feb 2003 issue, there is an entire 5 pages devoted to the GT-R!
There is a pretty extensive interview of the man they call "Mr GT-R", Hiroshi Tamura, and loads of sexy pics of R32,R33 and R34 editions of the car.
There is also an entire pictorial history of the Skyline from the 1964 model to the R34 of 1998. Also, pics of the NISMO (Nissan Motorsports Festival) in Fuji!
Awesome stuff!

Some friends told me about it. I checked it at the newstand, but did not buy it, 15 dollars is a rip off for CAR. meh....

Anyway, Two friends took loads of pix from the Nismo Festival (when it happened) main reason they go is because, well, they own GT-Rs (R34s).
Very interesting stuff on display there, especially the SCHWEET Nismo 400R.

PS, Wats wit da Avatar, Buddha?. :D

I had a Nismo 400R for my avatar last week, dunno if you saw it or not.
Here it is

TRD is right up there with NISMO in terms of performance and tuning. A TRD Supra vs a NISMO Skyline would be a pretty even match.
I don't like to stick with one avatar for too long, so I like to change it weekly. I'm not loyal to one brand, just Japanese, German, and Italian cars. So in the future, I'll be sporting logo's of their tuning/motorsport divisions and also tuners like HKS, Greddy, Blitz, and etc.

bto, you have something against TRD?
Also, would those Nismo festival pictures be online?

Pics, http://datsun510.com/photopost/showgallery.php?cat=3008&ppuser=8&thumb=1

No, I don't really have anything against TRD, I just think Mugen and Nismo do a hell of a lot better job at tuning...call me biased, but the range of products Nismo and Mugen put out for the vehicles (Nissans and Hondas, respectively) in comparison with TRD is just no contest.

Yes, I saw the avatar, how could I not have seen a "mahvelous" 400R....a classic.

BTW, the rumour of the V8 on the next GT-R just keeps popping out... hopefully it will materialize into that....if not... oh well, more V6 goodness beating V8s :D (you know what I mean).

PS, another favorite I have is ///M.

Thank You for the pics.

bto, you are right. TRD doesn't do enough in terms of engine tuning and other tuning aspects as Nismo and Mugen does. M is another good one too, I just wished AMG would put some manual transmissions into their cars. Nothing beats a hand bulit engine.
