Backup copy of LG DRD-8160B Firmware Badly Needed

Postby Toink on Wed Feb 19, 2003 10:58 pm

Hello everyone! I'm appealing to all kind souls in this forum...

I'm in need of the BACKUP copy of the firmware of an LG DRD-8160B Drive. I tried the current f/w D5LGF65B.HEX using both MTKFLASH and XFERD5 but both processes either produced an eternal blinking DOS cursor or hanged in there without activity...

Silly me I badly flashed my Drive. Now it's dead as a duck. But was told that there's still hope to "revive" it...Someone from another forum suggested that I ask around if they have the same Drive and ask for their kindness to share with me their back-up f/wares....

Hoping that someone will take my heed...

Thanks!

Toink!

He tried it. What is needed is a backup of the firmware from a working drive which can then be used with mtkflash to flash his dead drive.

@Toink:
Are you the one that posted in dhclb, who toasted his gf's drive?
I suggest you also ask in the cdfreaks.com firmware forum for someone having your drives firmware. (You might meet dhc014 there again :) )
Getting the binary firmware directly is the safest bet, but you may also try to convert the hex file (assuming it's in Intel Hex format) into bintary with e.g. this ool and flashing the result using mtkflash.
Nothing here, move along.

The Hex2Bin din't work though :( Or perhaps I wasn't just doing it right...

Dumb question: How do you back-up a firmware using MTKFLASH? or XFERD5? I appreciate anyone's help on this... Thanks!
