Audio DVDs?

Postby glock20rocks on Tue Feb 18, 2003 3:21 am

I've got a 300 disc DVD changer that can't play CD-R/RW but can play DVD+R/RW. Is there any way to burn audio data onto a dvd disc?

I assume it would be the same as burning a CD-R audio disk in Nero. Doing the math, the average CDA(WAV) file is about 70MB X 65 tracks = 4.550GB. So, you can get about 65 tracks on a DVD disk.

the question is, will the player actually play .wav files from a DVD media?
glock20, you'll just have to burn a disc and check.

Probably not, most dvd players assume it's a movie when a dvd is inserted to play and if it's not they just get a bad disk error. I have been through this with my Cyberhome 500, haier hd 700, and my Koss 216 portable.
The Koss will play a mp3 dvd just fine, seems to show all folders and everything, haven't rtried a straight audio file cd yet. The Haier wouldn't till I upgraded the firmware to the Sampo 631 firmware modified for this unit and also for that purpose. I'll have to try a regular Audio cd to a dvdr of some sort and see what happens too.
