KHypmermedia media ID please!

Postby VEFF on Tue Feb 11, 2003 1:51 pm

I am going to be on vacation next week, and would like to order some KHypermedia DVD-Rs (CMC) for my A05 and DRU-500A.
I trust this more than Princo (hopefully the correct assumption).

There is one type of CMC 1X DVD-R (media ID = CMC MAG) that can be burned at 2X on a Pioneer DVR-105 (A05).
I want to know whether the KHypermedia DVD-Rs are the same type of CMC.
I think they are different, but I can't check, since I am not at home, and i want to order these this afternoon, so I have them for next week...

If anyone with CD Speed can check the media ID of the KHypermedia (CMC) DVD-Rs, I would appreciate it.
1. Insert the DVD-R media in the DVD burner.
2. Click the Icon for Nero CD Speed to open the CD Speed main window.
3. Then select "Extra" from the menu, and click to open the "Disc Information"
4. Then you can see the Media ID indicated where it says "Code".

I have already burned a previous batch of the KHypermedia media on the DRU-500A (firmware 1.0f and 1.0g) at 2X.
Burners only:
Pioneer DVR-115D
Pioneer DVR-111D

I don't know about you but I wouldn't burn anything by CMC at more than 1x unless it was a 4x certified disc and even then I'd go for 2x. I have no faith in anything CMC makes including CDRs. I prefer quality over speed. I'd rather wait an hour for my disc to burn nice and correct at 1x than burn at 2x only to find out it freezes and stutters near the end of the movie. I learnt my lesson early and have also learnt patience.

Good point about the speed/quality balance.

I think my best bet is to get 2X Princo or 4X Ritek.

The Princos have worked for me so far. Just not sure about playback capability. Think Riteks have a dye that might be easier to read by DVD players.
