Nero vs EZCD x5 Plat

Postby ManWithaPlan on Mon Feb 10, 2003 5:08 pm

Did a search for nero but nothing seems to have been posted here.

I have EZCD x5 Plat and have just installed the latest nero 5.5.0.7. for
(s)vcd mainly.

I have just been trying to backup some previous downloads using EZCD Direct CD but for the first time i have hit upon a major problem.

Trying to format, gives me an error message of (unreconizable media)
After about 5 attempts i managed to format a disc but when trying to drag n' drop files to the disc i am getting the BSOD and the disc becomes corrupt.

This has just happened after i installed nero.

Is there any way these 2 programs can work together.

did you install just Nero or did you install InCD with it?
Nero should be able to live in peace and harmony with Easy CD Creator and Direct CD.
however DirectCD and InCD don't mix well - you should install only one packet writing program.

I downloaded nero from there website as a demo then purchased the serial number.
Not sure whether InCD was installed as i dont think i was given the option to or not to, how can i tell????????
I will uninstall it then reinstall noting if the option to use InCD is there.

Uninstalled nero and tested direct cd and it is now working fine.
Went to install nero again to see if InCD was given as an option to install but the complete package installs completely so i've now just un-installed nero and wont bother with it until i can find a way for them both to work together.

if this is what you did, then you only installed Nero, not InCD.
look at my answer to you questions in the Ahead forum http://www.cdrlabs.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=9213

you can tell if InCD is installed:
when you start up you get a splash screen.
in the system tray there is an InCD icon - looks like a round circle (CD?) with an arrow going through it, color is red or green.

as i said you didn't install InCD.
if you still have problems with DirectCD and Nero installed at the same time, give us more info so we can try and help you.
give some details about your system, burner, os etc.
do you have Easy CD Creator installed too?

Ok then i did not install InCD(no splash screen or icon) just nero from there site.

My problems are WITH nero installed:-

1. takes about 5 tries to format a disc using media i've always used(TDK,Phillips,Sony) with no problems.

2. While using drag n' drop after 10-20seconds i notice the copying time INCREASE then i get the dreaded BSOD.

3. Press Ctrl+Alt+Delete and the close program box shows Direct CD not responding.

4. If i'm adding to an already open disc then it shows no files present on the disc and have to repair it and the format cd says unrecognised data on disc.

I'm running Windows ME
Burner Samsung CDRW/DVD SM-308B
Adaptec EZCD Creator x5 Platinum

As i said these problems only occur when Nero is installed
Once Nero is uninstalled everything is fine.
Hope this helps

I bought a drive with nero 5 bundle and don't see what all the hub bub is about easy 5 plat. to me is easier to use provides good quality and has the fade in fade out I like. after 30 years of recording on reel to reel and casette spending 4-8 hours making the perfect tape easy is good.enlighten me nero fans is nero faster have better quality more features? I have searched various forums and find praise of nero without specifics.I am an old dog looking for new tricks.
