DVD raw read sectors

Postby Baka_boy on Sun Feb 09, 2003 9:15 pm

I want to modify my old ioctl/aspi read functions (i.e 0xbe) to support raw reads from dvd's. My problem is i dont know how to fill the passed structure correctly. For example do i set the buffer size to nsectors*2064 instead of nsectors*2352 as used on cdrom's and so on. This info will really help a lot in the project im doing.

Thanks,
Bb

IOCTL ? ( you use linux ? ) . Be clear ( few people live in Linux planet , i live only in Mars planet  . Linux planet is too far from Mars and the Earth for me :D ) . Perhaps i understand some things you say but i am not sure :o .
Or perhaps you are in the wrong forum .

What is your purpose ? ( Burn an image file ? Programming ? Other ? )

What is the issue/problem ? ( short and accurate ) How do you understand the problem ? ( say what you think about the problem , explanations can be long , perhaps you'll learn your mind was mistaken , perhaps you 'll teach us somethings , perhaps both will occur ) .

1. IOCTL is not native to linux, IOCTL is also supported by NT through SPTI and other O/S's support it as well.

2. The purpose is obviously programming related.
3. The issue was already stated, if you did not understand it then obviously you are not the person who should be replying to this topic.

Sorry to sound rude, but i was neither kidding nor waiting for some goof answer.

Sorry to speak frankly but :) :

- you are not in a programmer forum . Perhaps few people can help you but i am not sure since they have not replied to you .
You should think about finding the appropriate forum .

- this is obvious only in YOUR mind because that's what you want .

That's why i was kidding ( i am kidding about myself too ) . Perhaps i am a moron but i think you are not in the good place .

I'll not reply anymore to this topic . So we'll not start a insults topic .
