HELP! Acer/BenQ 6406EU USB CDRW - Error

Postby cherget on Sun Feb 09, 2003 4:59 pm

I recently bought an Acer/BenQ 6406 USB CDRW (6x4x6) with USB 1.1 interface. The drive detects, installs and reads correctly, but almost every time I attempt to burn with Nero, I get a "SCSI/IDE Command Aborted" error in the first half of the burn or simulation.

I have updated the drive firmware, tried different kinds of media, different speeds (even at 2x burning an image direct from HD, same problem, so not any kind of buffer underrun), turned auto-insert notification and virus protection off, but still the error keeps coming. The only complete burns I get are on very small (200mb or so) data CD's. Any ideas??? I'm at my wit's end... I'd hate to have to RMA the drive just for some stupid error, and I don't even think it's hardware to begin with... HELP!
