TEAC DW-224E No longer functions

SYSTEM SPECS:
Model: Compaq Presario Notebook 1520US
OS: XP Home Edition (all windows update patches added)
512 MB RAM - Intel P4 1.8 GHz

DEVICE IN QUESTION:
TEAC DW-224E
(Internal CD-RW/DVD combo)

ERRORS:
- CD-RW/DVD no longer listed in explorer trees
- Device manage has yellow flag for CD-RW/DVD and gives the following message:
Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)

NOTES:
- I installed an OLD version of Adaptec Roxio Easy CD Creator 4.x
- I soon found out that this program is VERY much not compatible with Windows XP, so I removed it.
- Upon windows boot up I was having problems with two files. It was disabling them at start up and giving me a message each time.

cdr4_2k.sys
- I did something stupid and I removed the filed from the system directory and forgot to keep copies of the originals like a moron. I also deleted two traces in the registry. I normal am not so careless with these type of things, but I just wasn’t thinking I guess.
- This may be the culprit. Those two files I have a feeling weren’t Easy CD creators, but rather, windows components.

TROUBLESHOOTING:
- I have removed the device and let it reinstall. No luck.
- The TEAC site has no new drivers and I have the latest Microsoft drivers.

- I am currently attempting to locate the two files I believe I may need online. I would try and extract them from the Recover CD’s, but I have no CD ROM abilities.


Does anyone else have ANY ideas? Any help would be MUCH appreciated.

UPDATE:
I downloaded cdralw2k.sys and cdr4_2k.sys and placed them back in my systems/drivers folder. I have REGAINED access to my CD-RW/DVD, however, I get the following message which is the same message I received after installing and removing Easy CD creator:

'CD Recording Software' will cause Windows to become unstable. Windows has prevented these drivers from loading.

I am currently looking through various knowledge bases to repair this problem. Any input is welcomed! Thank you all!

With the following link, I removed the East CD Creator entries and restored the deleted files.
