Do Canadians not lock their homes?

Postby Robotnik on Sat Feb 01, 2003 7:25 am

I just saw the Michael Moore movie 'Bowling for Columbine'. Apparently in Canada no-one locks their homes. To prove this, Michael Moore went around several households in a Toronto neighborhood and none had locked front doors. Can this really be true? I find this incredible! I mean, I live in a country with pretty much zip crime compared to even Canada and I double lock and deadbolt my door - always.

Eh...I'd forget to lock my door if I played too many games of Beer Hunter, eh? Eh?

Yeah...does anyone know why a good number of Canadians say "eh" all the time? An ex-girlfriend of mine always said it. She said she and her sisters said it because their parents did it.

Eh? :-?

By the way...my ex always made sure the door was locked. That's one for the NO vote.

I always lock my doors. But then I'm a 911 operator/police dispatcher and deal with OTHER people's B&E's (and other problems) all day long.

Then again, we don't have to worry about guns up here either. At least not much.

I never saw the movie, but isn't his point that: in Canada, guns are rare, and it's so safe you can go out and leave your door unlocked?

Try that in Miami or LA or Detroit or...
Remember that Toronto has a 2.5 Million population.

Eh!

A friend of mine has a friend who has a DUI under his belt. I guess when he tried to drive into Canada, they checked his license and turned his butt right around at the border. If this is true, damn...they're strict!

I know as far as moving to Canada, there's a lot of requirements that have to be satisfied.

187's? That's a code I'm never heard before. Impaired? If it is impaired driving, I can't remember a shift I didn't have an officer arrest someone for it.

My force uses a 10 code for all of it's on air dispatches.

My stats: I've never bothered to count before. But that 14 year old was damn lucky I had 30 officer's out looking for him. 8 hours in the bush in -27C weather...

Sorry, Spazmogen. In a nutshell, 187 is a murder.

We had a double back in early January. I never did hear what weapon was used.

Even Phil Spector is a killer now.
