Yeah, its rumored to be based on an NEC design.

Not to mention, its not "BURN-Proof". It's buffer underrun proof technology. Not the same thing.

if so, it's a pity they didn't base it on the multi-format NEC drive.
would've been sweet - a multi format plextor...

The drive is not released as of yet thus it could change in the time it is released to a multi form drive

Still can't decide between the Sony DRU-500AX and the Plex... Need one soon!

It'd be alot nicer if the Plex could do DVD-/+R/RW like the Sony.

I may just go ahead and get on if they drop the stupid EasyCD Creator crap bundle. Glad I had Nero already for my 48x Plex, otherwise I woulda skipped it.

why do you say that?
it's been officially released.

anyway such a change would be a major engineering change that would take quite a bit of time.
