After updating 1.0f to 1.0g, I ran the firmware updater program and it looked like this.

Also, on my forum:

http://myclub-webbbs.korea.com/ipc/boar ... 0a_10f.rar

It reads my Melody DVD-R media made by CMC at 4x only. Starting from 4x and always 4x.

Tanks guys it works fine for the "A" version wich I have, but I was curious if the "AX" has the same ability to update(just adding the "X" next to A,) but there was no "AX" update for "g" version available, so I presume that that model will be already delivered with "g" completed when you buy an AX version in February............

greetings Harry :D

This is the western and faster link at Sony's Storage page.....
Sony seems to have problems to make the right working links, Their own
link didn't work, must wait to long so I experienced a little with characters
from the "properties" pop-up, this works ! :x
(with english instructions)

good luck everybody, Harry

Just a heads up, the actual link at the sony.storagesupport.com website is now pointing correctly to the new firmware. Guess Sony finally got off their butts and fixed it LOL. So yeah, you can just go to the US site and get the update.

On a side note, anyone else get a kick out of the choices at the bottom of Sony's EULA when you go to download a firmware update? Instead of "Accept" like most companies...Sony seems to enjoy using "Submit" instead LOL...guess they have a god complex or something.

Also, based on some reports from over at the dvdxcopy forums, some people with the external 500 model have reported a slight increase in burning times across the board with 1.0g over 1.0f. No other changes in performance and such have been noted yet over 1.0f. Its pretty much assumed that this firmware update is simply media updates(more media burning at speeds its should be and a fe wother media types working correctly). But, no extensive tests on media types have been done as of yet.

Also, a heads up for those of you who may use Ritek 4x media and have a copy of DVDxcopy 1.4.x installed. It appears that part of the gear drivers are responsible for a burning speed downshift from 4x to 2x part way through the burn. The details are up over at their forms as to how to fix this problem if you have it with your 500 model. Also it appears confirmed that this same part of the driver is responsible for the slightly increased shutdown times of computers once this is installed.

Just thought I'd share the info over here.
