problem with 1.0f firmware

i have a DRX-500UL drive which i bought some time ago.
It came with the 1.0d firware and works fantastically.

I use the Ritek DVD-R 4 X media and it burn in about 15-20 minutes. Sweet.

With PrimeDisc 1X DVD-R media it took about 60 minutes.

But thats not my problem. I just updated my firmware from 1.0d to the 1.0f firmware. My installation went smoothly and it recorded as a successful update. By the way I am using a Sony laptop GR270 win WIN XP Home.

With the newer 1.0f firmware, my drive is having a terribly hard time reading my old DVD-R that I burned with the 1.0d firmware. Those are just normal file like .rm and .avi file. I am at a lost. What is wrong here?
Is anyone having the same problem?
Can anyone help me pls?

My exp with my 1.0f 500A is, it has problem reading the 2x Ritek media that it just made (!), although my other Samsung 308B reads the disk fine. 1x burning everything is perfect. So the chance is 1.0f gets a little pickier than 1.0d. Your data is still there, just the Sony can't read it maybe until 1.0g or something.

I totally agree with you man. The 1.0f firmware is just too picky.
I would really like to degrade back to the 1.0d firmware.
Anyone by any chance still have it?

And to make things worse..., I just bought like 50pack of Verbatim 4X DVD+R and 25 pack of Ritek 9.4Gb 1X DVD-R.

But here is something that might interest you man.

Good news everybody.
I found the 1.0d firmware at this site and the link is still active. Get it while its still there man.

The 1.0d firware is going to fix all the Ritek media compatibality problem you have with the 1.0f firmware.

One downside though... you can't burn DVD+R at 4X...only at 2.4X
YOu still can burn DVD-R at 4X using the cheap Ritek media.
