since the DRU-500A has been pretty much impossible to get, i was wondering when retailers are supposed to get stock on the new version.

I don't know where you are located by it was advertised yesterday at a local retailer in this area called Fry's. It was selling for something like 3.49.95 (?).

Good luck in finding one. They are out there............
Have fun.........Bob

I'm not sure when the "X" models will be ready to go...I'd guess the first half of February.

That said, if you want a DRU500A drive, www.googlegear.com(I've ordered lots of stuff from them before so you can trust them) still has a bunch of DRU500A drives in stock for $335. Plus, they have a deal righ tnow on UPS shipping... $1.50 for 2nd day UPS...not bad at all. A bit more for FedEx if you don't like/trust UPS but with Fedex shipping the drive still will still only run you $354 so not bad at all.

it doesn't seem anyone knows yet if the "X" model is just new packaging and firmware. if so, then i would buy the current drive now without waiting.
