Philips DVD+RW-D01 driver/burn problems

Postby mreiner on Wed Dec 31, 1969 11:41 pm

I just recently got this drive with a Dell Precision Workstation.

I have yet to even try to burn to DVD-R. But I was succesful with a few CD-R burns. I'm using Roxio Easy CD Creator 5. Now the drive just hangs up when I try to burn.

Does anyone else have this drive?

Thanks

I'm not sure if that was a typo or not.. but the Philips is a DVD+RW drive and does not support DVD-R.

Additionally, correct me if I'm wrong, but Easy CD Creator 5 does not support DVD-R media yet. You can create CD's with it, but not DVD's.

I have tried to burn everything with this little suckah, and it performed well until i came to the DVD+R, the first time it formated the disc as an rw, stoopid, disc was of course, destroyed and not usable anymore, so then i tried different burner softwares, and the next 2 it started but then after 1% it suddenly didnt recognize that the disc was inserted, bahhh
My D01 was also a bundled Dell DVD burner, and the support guy here in sweden says that this model probably :o DON'T !!!!! suport +R , only +RW !!!
But as for me, thats not confirmed until i hear or see differently, so my next step is to roam around the web and search for more nfo about the D01 and finally probably contacting the Phillips support section...
(hehe, and the first time i talked with my Dell support, they suggested i try to use an ordinary -R disc in the +RW recorder, weee thats intelligence for ya  )

Philips DVD+RW-D01 aka Philips DVDRW208 aka Ricoh MP5120 does not write to DVD+R, only DVD+RW.
See here and here.

I only wish that Dell could exchange the burner to one that can burn +R, as in the Dimensionpack that they were selling 2 months later, but nooo, that is not possible, bahhh humbug
