Yes its true. Still not 100% whether it will be a DVD+RW or a Dual RW like the Sony.

No one knows how fast it will be. They haven't announce any details like that yet.

When? Let me hop in my time machine and check. Ok a week from Tuesday.

Lite-On had a roadmap on its site earlier showing a 4x DVD±R/RW + 48x CD-R writer in Q2. But the roadmap is gone now and much can change... Digitimes had an article a while ago with the following info:

Michael Gong, general manager of Lite-On IT’s optical disc drive business unit, said the company is likely to sample a DVD dual drive in January. However, he said although the device will be a hit among consumers, the company will still make rewritable DVD drives supporting only one format to avoid royalty fees from both camps.

Gong said the company prefers the DVD+RW format, developed by DVD+RW Alliance, as it is supported by PC industry heavyweights such as Dell Computer, Hewlett-Packard (HP) and Microsoft.
