It only applies to his case in Norway, but any victory against the greedy, oppressive forces of the MPAA (or their cohorts in crime, the RIAA) is good news to me! :D

"The judge said Mr Johansen could view DVDs he had legally bought however he wanted.

Prosecutors had failed to give evidence Mr Johansen's program had been used by others to watch pirate copies, she said.

"This is a very solid ruling," Mr Johansen's lawyer, Halvor Manshaus, said.

"It is saying that when you have bought a film legally, you have access to its content.

"It is irrelevant how you get that access. You have bought the movie after all."

Common sense does have a chance after all.

Isn't this the second time they tried tp prosecute him? They have lots of money and power and won't give up till everyhting has some sort of digital rights management rather then lowering prices on movies. Actually quite a few movies are real cheap now, but they gotta protect the music industry too so they both squash the little guys whenever possible and blaim the evil internet etc.
